Is the Juvia's Place x Vanessa Palette worth your coins?

I love trying new products but other than trying new foundations, trying new eyeshadow palettes are my favorite! I was able to snag the Juvia’s Place x Vanessa palette from the collection that also includes 2 lipsticks. I will be going back for the lipsticks but I wanted to see what the palette could do and I also wanted to support a fellow Ghanaian in the beauty industry. I got my order in about 4 days and was ecstatic when I opened it up.

First of all, the picture of her in cartoon form, on the front of the palette, was just beautiful and it represented her and her African culture. It was truly amazing to see especially since not a lot of makeup products do that or feature people like Vanessa Gymieh. Juvia’s place is great for that! Now I didn’t want to be biased, even though I was so proud, so I made sure to also record it and show how it worked on my YouTube channel as a first impressions. The palette includes 6 colors that go by the names Extra, Perfectionist, BSG, Busy, Stush, and Akua. I wanted to make sure I used the palette right so I followed Vanessa’s tutorial off of YouTube. Check out the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhdMnR9V-SI&t=567s

We actually used every color in her palette to achieve the look. She didn’t use Busy but I used it to clean up the space under my eyebrow and where the shadow started as a way to blend it better. Makeup Hack If you can’t get under your eyebrow to blend well, use an eyeshadow color that matches the concealer in that place. It acts like a setting powder and it really breaks down the concealer.

Nevertheless, my only and a big complaint to possibly some but not really to me, is that I had to do a lot of building. A one brush through the shadow will not help you achieve the look you need. I definitely had to dip a couple times into each color except for Akua. That was the most pigmented color for me. Building an eyshadow on the lid space isn’t the worst thing in the world. I am still getting into finding my rhythm with makeup and so taking my time with application actually helps me control the colors better. It depends on a person’s preference but other than that, the colors are beautiful and give you that vibrant spring look you may be looking to achieve this upcoming season.

I would give the palette a try and maybe you’ll also love the lipstick colors which are a nude and a pink. Ghana’s Independence Day just passed but its always a great time to support a Ghanaian person doing big things!
